  • Do I need a referral to see Dr Mark Lee?

Yes, you will be required to obtain a referral from your General Practitioner or specialist for the consultation. Having a referral enables you to claim a Medicare rebate from your initial consultation fee. In addition, if your procedure has Medicare item numbers applicable, a referral is necessary to claim the rebates.

  • How long is my referral to see Dr Mark Lee valid for?

Referrals from a GP are valid for one year, while a referral from a specialist is only valid for three months.

  • What is the wait time for a consultation?

We will always endeavour to be flexible with scheduling your initial consultation with Dr Mark Lee. Please anticipate approximately one month of wait time when booking your appointment with us.

  • Will I see Dr Mark Lee at the consultation?

All consultations will be directly with Dr Mark Lee so that you can discuss any questions or concerns that you may have with him in person.

  • Do I need to bring anything to my consultation?

lease bring your referral, Medicare card and private health insurance card with you.

It’s also a good idea to write a list of any questions that you may have and bring it with you on the day. That way, you can ensure that all your questions and concerns have been answered and that you have all the information you require to make an informed decision regarding surgery.

  • How many consults do I need to have prior to booking my cosmetic surgery?

Under regulatory guidelines, you will need to have at least two pre-operative consultations, with one conducted face-to-face. This allows you time to discuss your expectations, motivations and the risks associated with surgery.

Further, all patients undergoing cosmetic surgery are required to complete a body dysmorphic disorder questionnaire prior to booking surgery. A psychological evaluation may be requested prior to booking surgery if results from this questionnaire indicate it is required.

These consultations are designed to discuss the surgical procedure in detail, address any concerns or questions you may have, and ensure you have a clear understanding of the expected outcomes and potential risks.

  • Can I see some before and after images, or some of your previous work?

We understand that each patient’s journey is personal, so we tailor our approach to your unique needs, and our approach to sharing before and after content mirrors this.

Dr Mark Lee will share before and after results thoughtfully in one-on-one consultations, providing you with all the necessary information about surgical risks, outcomes, and suitability, to make informed decisions with confidence.

  • How much does an initial consultation cost?

The cost of an initial consultation is $200. A $50 non-refundable deposit is due at the time of booking the consultation, with the balance of $150 payable on the day of the consultation.

Having a referral enables you to claim a Medicare rebate from your initial consultation fee.

  • How much will the surgery cost?

The cost depends on the type of surgery.  You will be given a written estimation of all costs involved with your procedure following your consultation, including hospital and anaesthetist costs, along with any Medicare item numbers that may be applicable.

Feel free to get in touch with our team if you would like an estimate of costs before booking a consultation.

  • Do you have payment plans or offer finance towards surgery costs?

No, we do not offer any payment plans or finance options. All surgical fees must be paid in full two weeks prior to your surgical date. We have no affiliations or kickback arrangements with any medical finance companies and do not endorse or recommend any particular company.

  • Does private health insurance cover cosmetic surgery?

Some procedures have Medicare item numbers applicable, which enable a rebate on both Dr Mark Lee’s fee and the anaesthetist’s fee, provided that you are covered for the Medicare item numbers as part of your private health insurance.

Having a Medicare item number means that your private health fund will cover all or part of your hospital costs, i.e. theatre and bed fees, provided that you are covered for the Medicare item numbers as part of your private health insurance.

Check with your private health insurer if you are uncertain whether your procedure will be covered or if you have any exclusions to your policy. Feel free to discuss this with our friendly staff at your consultation appointment.
